Custom Device Manufacturer Comes Through When Toll Booth Vendor Withdraws
Precision Analog Systems Creates Improved Design

Plantation, FL — The state of Florida needed a new solution. When a toll booth collector in Florida would spill a drink in a terminal keyboard, the whole terminal would go down and have to be replaced. In addition, the integrated system held up poorly under the heavy use and Florida’s harsh conditions. Finally, the terminal’s original vendor decided to withdraw its support, forcing the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to search for an alternate solution. The state looked to Precision Analog Systems for a custom redesign.
Because switches in the keyboards were the first thing to wear out or break, Precision Analog provided replacement keyboards for the original toll terminals in order to save the client money and keep the original terminals in service as long as possible. Then Precision Analog Systems redesigned the entire toll terminal from scratch using a heavy duty, stainless steel case and a custom-designed keyboard with an internal silicon-rubber cover to keep spilled drinks out of the terminal. Precision Analog also made custom replacement parts for FDOT’s coin collection machines and power supplies.
